New Updates to EPA FITS Source Water Protection Funding Tool

EPA has announced a new updated version of the Funding Integration Tool for Source Water (FITS). FITS is a one-stop-shop, web-based, interactive tool that was originally released in 2021. This new version now includes information about a total of fourteen federal funding sources that are available and can be used to support projects and activities that protect drinking water sources. The three new funding sources added to the tool are: EPA’s Sewer Overflow and Stormwater Reuse Municipal Grants program, the U.S. Forest Service’s Forest Legacy Program, and Natural Resources Conservation Service’s and U.S. Forest Service’s Joint Chiefs’ Landscape Restoration Partnership program. The tool helps users understand how these federal funding sources may be leveraged by states, tribes, and territories for all phases of source water protection, and provides tips and examples from previous projects. For more information and to view the 5-minute video tutorial on the updated tool, visit EPA’s website.
