Updated River Network Clean Water Act Owner’s Manual

River Network (one of our 30 Source Water Collaborative members) has updated its Clean Water Act Owner’s Manual. Over the two decades since its original publication, this tool has galvanized local groups, grassroots advocates and diverse stakeholders to protect their local waters by identifying the many ways that every person can track, influence, and change the way the law is implemented at the federal, state, and local levels. The Owner’s Manual includes an overview of key programs and the stories of featured communities who are applying the law, while centering environmental justice and climate change and how the law can be flexed to address these longstanding issues. Another feature is crossing the Clean Water Act with common challenges, including contamination of drinking water and source water protection, and highlighting how the law can be used to address these critical issues.
